Jobs for Experienced Candidates

Deputy Grants Fundraising Director

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA

The Deputy Director will have a key role in our efforts to double our grant and large donor fundraising over the next five years. This additional funding will enable the Public Interest Network to make an even bigger impact on some of the most important problems of our time, as well as recruit and train hundreds more new activists who will work for change for years to come. 


Development Associate (Prospect Researcher)

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA

The Prospect Researcher will identify and research prospective donors for a wide array of public interest campaigns and programs, supporting the fundraising work of the network’s advocates, organizers, executive directors, and development staff. 


Development Associate (Planned Giving Coordinator)

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA

The mission of The Public Interest Network’s planned giving program is to raise money through bequests and other legacy gifts. By growing our planned giving program, The Public Interest Network will raise significant additional funds as baby boomers pass down over $50 trillion in the greatest intergenerational transfer of wealth in U.S history. In addition, we aim to deepen our members’ affinity to network organizations by giving them the opportunity to leave the legacy of a better world to future generations. 


Media Communications Director

LOCATION: Washington, DC; Denver, CO; or Boston, MA.

The Public Interest Network needs a Media Communications Director to develop messaging and to promote our brands, issue campaigns, and staff to the media. The Media Communications Director will collaborate with the staff of our partner groups, including U.S. PIRG, Environment America, Fair Share and other organizations, to craft a media strategy for each brand, and directly connect with reporters, bloggers, editors and others in the media world to increase our visibility, name recognition, reputation and reach. 


National Program Director

LOCATION: Washington, DC; Denver, CO; or Boston, MA.

The Director will coordinate nationwide issue campaigns across the Network. This person will work with partner groups, including U.S. PIRG, Fair Share and Environment America, to strategize tactics and opportunities to advance our campaigns around the country.


Budget Operations Manager

LOCATION: Denver, CO or Chicago, IL

Work with dozens of social change organizations to trim costs, manage and maintain equipment and vendor relationships and assist in preparing and monitoring their budgets.


Training Center Director

LOCATION: Denver, CO

We're looking for a Training Center director to promote our training program throughout the larger public interest and progressive communities and to raise money to expand the program in the years to come. We are looking for someone with an exciting vision about how to expand our existing model so that we can activate even more people for the movement.


Environmental Action Executive Director

LOCATION: Washington, DC; Denver, CO; or Boston, MA.

The Executive Director will be charged with developing and executing a 3-year strategic plan to grow the staff of Environmental Action, upgrade and expand Environmental Action’s programmatic work, develop new sources of grant and large donor funding, and grow Environmental Action’s digital audience and income streams.

Administrator, Legal Department

LOCATION: Denver, CO

The mission of the Network’s in-house legal department is to provide legal services to member groups across the country on a wide variety of matters and practice areas. The department works to enable member groups to meet their organizational and programmatic goals and to ensure that the ways in which these organizations conduct their business are legally sound. We assist in the growth of new groups, preserve the tax-exempt status of existing groups, defend them against legal claims, ensure their compliance with state and federal laws and IRS regulations, and promote and protect their interests consistent with legal principles and best practices. We are looking for a smart, driven, and detail-oriented individual to join this team as the department’s Administrator.


Grants Fundraising Associate

The Public Interest Network is looking for a sharp, political, ambitious, and detail-oriented candidate to join our central team as the Assistant to the President.


Web Associate

LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA or Boston, MA.

The Public Interest Network’s Creative Team works to tell the story of our organizations online in a way that connects with people—visually, emotionally, intellectually—and motivates them to join the fight for a better world.

We are looking for a Web Associate to help us create websites, build splash pages, and conduct online experiments to increase the impact of our large network of websites. You’ll work with the staff of our organizations across the country to create powerful online content that raises money, increases visibility and attracts more supporters and volunteers.


Online Writer

LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA or Boston, MA.

The Creative Team for The Public Interest Network is hiring an Online Writer to produce online content for U.S. PIRG, Environment America and other organizations that engage in research, advocacy, grassroots organizing and litigation and other strategies to win positive changes for our environment and our society. The Online Writer will create and run digital campaigns for Public Interest Network organizations to elevate our program work online and encourage people to take action and get involved.


Writing Associate

LOCATION: Philadelphia, PA or Boston, MA.

Do you believe the power of story, image and design can help change the world? So do we. If you care about important issues like global warming, fracking, and the corruption of politics by billionaires and Super PACs and you want to use your communication skills to impact these issues, we’d like to talk to you.

The Creative Team for The Public Interest Network is hiring a Writing Associate to tell the stories of the campaigns that organizations like Environment America and U.S. PIRG are working on in materials that go to the membership base of these organizations.


Digital Campaigners

LOCATION: Washington, DC; Denver, CO; or Boston, MA.

The Public Interest Network is hiring five digital campaigners ready to protect the environment and restore our democracy. You’ll work with organizations like Environment America and U.S. PIRG to craft and win campaigns to fight global warming, get big money out of politics, and protect our waterways from toxic pollution.


Administrative Associate, Grants Department

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA.

Work with the network’s advocates, organizers, attorneys, executive directors and development staff to raise funds for a wide array of public interest campaigns and programs. Current campaigns include working to restore Clean Water Act protections to nearly 2 million miles of our nation's waterways, convincing the EPA to save our bees by declaring a moratorium on the use of bee-killing neonics, stopping the flow of special interest money in politics, stopping the use of antibiotics on factory farms, promoting clean and renewable energy, increasing voter participation amongst underrepresented voters and many, many more.


Internships

In-House Counsel Intern

LOCATION: Washington, DC; Denver, CO; or Boston, MA.

The Public Interest Network’s in-house legal department provides legal services to Environment America, U.S. PIRG, and dozens of state and national affiliated organizations. The primary practice areas include First Amendment issues, non-profit corporate and tax compliance, campaign finance/election law, lobbying, charitable solicitation regulation, employment law, benefits, and contracts. We are seeking 1Ls and 2Ls for summer internships to conduct legal research, prepare in-house legal memoranda and draft and review contracts.


Campaign Legal Intern

LOCATION: Washington, DC; Denver, CO; or Boston, MA. Other locations for qualified candidates.

The Public Interest Network’s member groups work to take on the fossil fuel industry to promote clean energy, advocate for stopping the overuse of antibiotics in farm animals, protect our rivers, and help turn out thousands of young people to vote. Our legal interns draft proposed legislation, create new policy ideas, frame campaign strategies, conduct legal and factual research and write legal memos. We are seeking 1Ls and 2Ls for summer internships, as well as externs for the fall and spring semesters.
